Description
Richard Crossley presents another superb Plan Pack, this time for a 1/12th scale Flying Flea or Pou-Du-Ciel. The prototype electric powered model, on which these plans are based came second in the 2009 UK scale indoor free flight Nationals. The plans are packed with detail and information to the model builder, Richard has gone to great efforts to ensure the outlines of the design are true-to-scale, these are probably the most accurate set of construction plans yet available for the Flea. This is a rib-for-rib scale model, but is still fairly easy to construct. The wings use a clever but simple jig to build-in the characteristic curved dihedral.
The plans are to build the famous ‘Crosley Flea’, now on display in the Smithsonian Air and Space museum in America, although with minor changes you could build any Flea that you wished. The model has a wingspan of about 19 inches, and flies well free flight using the Zombie, Voodoo 25 and 130mAh LiPo cell. It would fly well with micro radio control using throttle (a slightly more powerful engine will be needed), rudder and elevator control, the wing on the model can be made to tilt like the original.
